Starting new

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Today, for the first time, I am actually sitting down to spend an hour on the tutorial to use my blog.  I have never done this before, I am usually the kind of person that would rather get her hands dirty and learn as I go.  This is specially true when it comes to computers.

Still, I want to make this website user friendly and interesting. I am learning to make it better and easier for you.  I hope you like the changes that are coming in the following weeks.

This week on life in the fast lane

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

The title is our little joke.  It is the fast lane when you realize in 6 days you are getting on a plane to go to Florida and move all your things.  Not much is packed and I am slowly going through the process of figuring out that I have no clothes I want to wear there.

I am trying not to panic as I start selling my furniture and other goodies to make up the money to get out of town.  I am trying not to cry as I see my friends trying to make me cry or say goodbye.  It is not good bye since I plan to come back in December.  Puertorricans, we are all just a little melodramatic.

This week I will probably not post much unless I get some incredible inspiration.  I will probably not have the computer on too much because I will be cleaning house and packing.  I will, however have the time to meditate, put myself first and get through this with a minimum of stress.  God is on my side and I will be ok.

How are you doing? How do you cope?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Ever had one of those days where things just don’t seem to be going the way you planned?  You somehow manage to get out of bed and do most of the items on your to do list.  Still, in order to get them done you had to spend more time than necessary because your internet connection died, wordpress erased your original post, you accidentally erased your resume….you woke up with some strange ailment that kept you in the bathroom for most of the day… The important thing is to keep going, right?

No, said my friend.  Her suggestion was for me to turn the computer off, get a good book and leave all the negative energy away.  After I write this post, I am taking a break.  I need to unwind, maybe get some rest.  Tomorrow is a new day full of promisse.  And so I ask you:  how have you been?  And when a day like this happens to you, how do you cope?

Life is the most interesting journey you will ever have

Don’t forget it.

I got a message today from a loved one complaining about how life was strange sometimes.  My answer was that life was like a bumpy road, which makes that an interesting ride.

Not every day is going to go well.  That is ok.  It is a sign that you are alive.  And don’t forget, you get another chance tomorrow to make it a great day.  Think about every day as a new opportunity and enjoy this journey of life.

Beauty is in your eye, forget about the beholder!!!

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

It never ceases to amaze me.  There are so little options for women of a certain height and weight.  Even though we are growing in numbers and have great buying power,  designers and shop owners feel the need to try and fit us in size 14 or less.

According to the Center for Disease Control (www.cdc.gov) there are 72 million Americans under the classification of overweight or obese.  Yet the amount of designers that actually design for these people are on the 10% or less.  Wake up people, we are more important than you think!

Why am I saying this?  What does this have to do with beauty?  Beauty, my dear, comes in all shapes and sizes.  At AVIDDIVA we are not interested in helping people loose weight.  Don’t forget, human nature is to “find” what it has “lost”.  Our interest is for you to rediscover your greatness and move towards improving and loving yourself first.  If YOU decide you want to get healthy and in the process you get rid of some weight, that is great.  That is not the goal.  Your health is essential.  And more important, you need to feel beautiful at any age, size and situation.

I am beautiful.  It took me 40 years to figure that out.  Don’t let my example rub off on you.  Dress to impress YOU.  Wear makeup to make YOU feel better.  Exercise for YOUR health.  The impact on your life and the lives of those around you is the best reward.
