Tuesday update: sometimes less is more

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I purchased the cheapest printer I could find (it scans and copies to, for $65 I can’t complain).  I filled out a loan application, I advertised several pieces of furniture for sale, I deposited money in the bank. I know the mark is $225 to register the business and have all the required tax receipts ready.  I have to wait until the money is available, hopefully by next Monday.

Today, I have spent most of my day writing.  It serves two purposes:  it takes my thoughts out of my head and it keeps me from going insane for not being able to register the business.

I have writen some interesting passages for the rest of the week, which I hope will generate some conversation.  In the meantime, I keep reading, and writing and staying away from frustration.  I am on the last week before I can officially say that my dream is becoming real.  I will not give up when I am so close to the first fruits of my labor.

This week has been full of surprises and lessons.  The most important lesson I learned this week is that nothing is stopping me.  I am fully committed to making this happen.  The journey continues.

SURPRISE your palate

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

If you want to try something healthy today, consider SURPRISES in the way you cook and/or eat, your foods.

If you love meat, why don’t you go vegan for one day?

If you like to experiment, why don’t you try raw food?

If you are having a hard time eating the five to nine fruits and vegetables daily, why don’t you try a new fruit and/or vegetable that you have never tried before?

Eating healthy does not have to be boring.  Add SURPRISES to your palate and let me know how it goes.

Add some SURPRISES to your wardrobe

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

The theme of the week is SURPRISES, and my question for you today is: how many different colors do you see in your wardrobe?  When I say colors, I don’t mean dark brown and chocolate brown.  I mean blue, green, purple….

One of the easiest ways to revive your wardrobe, and your outlook, is by getting something in a different color.  Get out of the white, black and brown uniform and buy a peach shirt.  Or try a purple cardigan.  Look at the fall previews on magazines, everyone is wearing purple.

If you are afraid of a bold move, consider a scarf, a hat or a pair of shoes to get your feet wet, pun intended.  Get out there and do something different, and then, tell me all about it.  SURPRISE yourself, and everyone else, with that color.

This week Surprises

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

There are no coincidences in life.  The theme for this week is SURPRISES and I started the week with no Internet access.  I picked the themes four weeks ago, so, again, there are no coincidences.

So the message today is short, sweet and three days late:  what are you doing to add SURPRISES to your life?  And what do you do when something SURPRISES you?  Do you take advantage of the opportunity or do you run away and hide?  Think about it.
