Why wait?

Recently, I’ve been asking several questions to find out what do you want to read about.  The topic of procrastination seems to be a hot button.

You told me you wanted to learn how to deal with delayed tasks.  You said that you keep forgetting some of your to-do items.  You mentioned you had a lot on your plate.

So, I asked you:  why do we procrastinate?  And your answers were very interesting.  Many of you felt you procrastinated out of fear, some of you said it was postponed decisions and two of you think we are just lazy.

I went out in search of more answers, researching other coaches, teachers, books, magazines, psychologists…after all, I am the queen of procrastinating.  I mean, it took me two weeks to actually sit down to transfer these notes to my computer :D

But before I tell you what I discovered, I want to fill you in on a little secret.  Procrastination is a symptom.  Until you figure out why you are leaving things for the last minute, you will not be able to solve the problem.

Next time, we will discuss some things you should be thinking about as you tackle your daily tasks, specially those tasks that you never get around to.

Every little victory….

The last couple of weeks have been busy yet uneventful.  You get caught up in the to-do-list and your daily activities and sometimes you forget there is a goal you set and that is why you are doing your to-do items.

Well, today one of those daily activities done over time paid off, I just received notification that pending my vet’s letter stating my dog is done growing (he looks young but he is over three years old - over 40 human months old), I have an apartment.  All I need now is the confirmation from the electric company and to sign the contract when I get there.

Just when the day had started with some interesting challenges, I get the news that I have been waiting for.  It is a small victory, but enough of a victory to spur me into even more small actions that will produce explosive results.  Remember, if you improve 1% a week, how much improvement can you have in a year?  52%?  More?  It is always up to you.

The strength you forget you have

It is interesting to me that I want to create a company based on the idea that women should take care of themselves first, and sometimes, I forget.  Today was such a day.

I have a personal trainer.  I see him once a week.  We are seing some progress, more is on the way.  This is about health and not about weight.  I am not going to lie, I love seing my butt shaping up and some definition in my arms.

Today I woke up and I wanted to go back to sleep.  I had a to-do-list larger than life, and I just wanted to not do anything.  I was tempted to call my trainer and tell him not to come here.  And then, I just decided that maybe, if he got here, I would be forced to exercise.  And you know what?  That is exactly what happened.  He came here, beat me to a pulp and I am so proud of myself because I completed my routine and we also brainstormed some business ideas.  So, the day was a good one, and my workout reminded me that I COME FIRST.  So do you.  You need to be first on your daily activities.  Even if it is only 30 minutes a day, take them for yourself.
